Experience baroque in the region
The historical setting of the European Region Danube-Vltava is what makes this concert series so special and unique. The European Region Danube-Vltava has a variety of baroque churches, palaces and castles to offer.
In the 17th century, Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria had already become a centre for the best architects, painters or fresco artists and stucco artists in Europe. Along the Danube, and at the invitation of the Passau prince-bishop, numerous abbeys and the Habsburg Monarchy as well as associated dynasties of princes, the crème de la crème arrived to construct churches, monasteries and palaces in the style of the times and to decorate them opulently. The cultivation of music along the Danube also reached an extraordinarily high level, causing art and culture to continue to reverberate in this region today, and to be admired by many tourists from all over the world. Baroque became not only an architectural style for people, but also a lifestyle, which is still palpable in modern times.
The singing days/weeks are supplemented with excursions into the region, such as Beer&Baroque through Lower Bavaria, an organ trip through the Bavarian Forest or a trip to the baroque theatre at Český Krumlov castle.
